The success of Smart India Hackathon initiative gained a new dimension when Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri. Narendra Modi announced for the first time ever Singapore - India Hackathon 2018 (a joint hackathon between India and Singapore).

On 12 - 14 November 2018, MHRD Innovation Cell (MIC) along with All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) jointly organised first Singapore - India Hackathon, a fast-paced 36-hour competition to develop creative and innovative solutions focused on the theme "Smart Campus". The hackathon had 20 teams of three university students each from India and Singapore. Teams with most innovative solutions presented with $10,000, while the second and third prize-winners won $6,000 and $4,000 each.

The Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi ji, has agreed** to be present at IIT Madras on 30th September, 2019 for the Prize Distribution ceremony of Singapore-India Hackathon 2019. **Formal confirmation is awaited!

Singapore India Hackathon FAQs

Singapore India Hackathon Grand finale would begin on 28th September 2019 in IIT Madras. All the facilities at the nodal center that are essential part of the hackathon would be accessible 24*7 to the participating teams during the 3 days’ time frame. Students would receive accommodation, meals, lab facilities, internet etc. during the Hackathon.

Student teams must carry their current prototype to the hackathon venue, along with special sensors / components and equipment required to build the product. You may need to bring along your laptop, sketch pads, set of pencils and pens etc. during the hackathon.
Yes. Every team has a team leader. Out of 6 team members, mutually 1 member can be nominated as a team leader.
20 teams comprising 6 students each (3 from Singapore and 3 from India) would be formed for Singapore India Hackathon 2019 Grand Finale.
Each team will be allocated one mentor (Either from India or from Singapore) who could be either Technical or Domain mentor. Mentor allocation would begin after the teams have been formed.
1st prize: $10,000
2nd prize: $8,000
3rd prize: $6,000
4th prize: $4,000
Consolation prizes: $2, 000 X 6 teams
To be eligible for Singapore India Hackathon, students from India should be in pre-final year and must have participated in the Grand Finale Software Edition. Eligible students who have given their consent for participation will have to go through a rigorous screening process of an Online Test and a Personal Interview. Based on the online test and interview, students will get shortlisted, making 20 teams with 3 team members each from India and 3 team members each from Singapore.
Yes, Singaporeans and Indian students will get a chance to interact with each other prior to the hackathon.

Winners of the Smart India Hackathon 2019 (Software Edition) Grand Finale were shortlisted for the evaluation process, based on the following criteria and consent to participate in Singapore India Hackathon 2019.
  • The student must be a winner in Smart India Hackathon 2019 (Software Edition) Grand Finale
  • The winner must be a student of the college (pre-final year)
  • The winner must respond to the consent Emailer by clicking YES Button to share his willingness for participation
